Alex Winslow is Executive Director of Texas Watch, a non-profit consumer and citizen advocacy organization based in Austin. Texas Watch is devoted to fair markets and legal accountability for all Texans.
As Texas Watch’s primary media spokesperson, Alex has been quoted as an expert on insurance and consumer law issues in every major and medium-sized newspaper in Texas. He has also appeared in numerous national publications including The New York Times, San Francisco Chronicle, Consumer Reports, and The Wall Street Journal. Additionally, Texas Watch research has been cited in influential news outlets including BusinessWeek, Texas Monthly, and USA Today. Alex has also made numerous television appearances as an expert on insurance and civil justice matters and is a frequent guest on talk radio.
Alex has been named one of Texas’s Top 10 “Lobbyists for Causes” by the influential political newsletter Capitol Inside, and he has served as a consumer liaison to the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (2006-2007).
Alex served as Texas Watch Program Director before being named Executive Director, and has a strong working knowledge of the important issues effecting Texas families. Prior to coming to Texas Watch in 2004, Alex served five years as the Chief of Staff for State Representative Barry B. Telford. He has also worked on numerous political campaigns, as well as for several members of the Texas House. Alex’s broad experience in the legislative and political arenas has given him a unique knowledge and understanding of public policy-making.
