About Matt Sowell

Matt is a sixth generation Floridian who has spent the past twenty-five years representing businesses and individuals that have been harmed by corporate misconduct or professional negligence. After earning a law degree from the University of Alabama, Matt spent two years researching banking law and creditor’s rights with the Dean of his law school. He then joined the commercial litigation department of a large Jacksonville law firm where Matt developed a special interest in helping businesses recover financial losses caused by the professional malpractice of attorneys, accountants, and appraisers. Matt’s professional liability practice has since expanded to include medical and nursing malpractice. While Matt handles all types of personal injury and wrongful death claims, he is frequently consulted and co-counseled by other law firms on complex medical malpractice cases involving cardiovascular, neurological, and birth injuries.

Matt and his wife Sara are in their twenty-fifth year of marriage. Sara is an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner who helps evaluate many of the medical malpractice cases Matt handles. They have two teenage daughters, Megan and Rachel, who have achieved the athletic success that Matt never did. Most weekends Matt or Sara can be found at a volleyball tournament or a rowing regatta. Matt’s family is active at the First Baptist Church of Jacksonville where Matt works in the Youth Department and Sara has taught Sunday School to kindergartners.
