Michael's Biography

Michael S. Brandner, Jr. is a native New Orleanian and a product of Jesuit High School.  Michael received an undergraduate degree from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.  After LSU, Michael returned home to attend Loyola University School of Law in New Orleans.  Upon receiving his juris doctor (“J.D.”), Michael moved to Boston, Massachusetts where he attended Boston University School of Law (“BU”) and received a master of law (LL.M.) degree.

After receiving his LL.M. at BU, Michael worked at a law firm whose practice focused on insurance defense, specifically in automobile, trucking, and maritime accidents.  After discovering the tactics of the insurance companies and the games they play with injured victims, Michael left that firm to work at a law firm specializing in state and local taxation where he represented small businesses and Fortune 500 companies

When Hurricane Katrina struck the Gulf Coast, Michael and his family fled Metropolitan New Orleans.  Michael’s job forced him to relocate to Oxford, Mississippi and his wife and child were forced to live in Kennewick, Washington.  Also after Hurricane Katrina, Michael assisted his parents, brother, and other family members with their homeowner’s insurance and flood insurance claims on their homes damaged by the hurricane.  Michael’s assistance spread throughout Southeast Louisiana to Mississippi’s Gulf Coast.  At this time, Michael noticed a pattern of horrendous behavior by his family and friends’ homeowner’s insurers.  After assisting his parents with their hurricane claim on their home in Bay St. Louis, Mississippi and noticing that other family members such as his grandparents would need additional assistance with making their homeowner’s and flood insurance companies pay for the necessary repairs to their Metairie home, Michael decided to start his own law firm.  The Brandner LawFirm was then created.

Michael started the Brandner Law Firm with the intention of assisting hurricane victims with the same personal attention and dedication he devoted to his parents and grandparents’ hurricane property damage claims.  To date, Michael has assisted hurricane victims throughout the Gulf Coast, from Louisiana to Alabama, with theirhomeowner’s, flood, or commercial insurance claims.(1)  From other lawyers and their families to retired school teachers and laborers, Michael has assisted a wide variety of clients from various backgrounds.  But, Michael’s dedication to each homeowner’s, flood or commercial insurance claim has never waned. 

Also at this time, Michael began using his legal knowledge, background and resources to represent individuals in various personal injury claims.  To date, Michael has represented victims in automobile accidents, truckingaccidents, maritime accidents, medical malpractice, and product liability cases.  As with Michael’s hurricane clients, Michael devotes the same personal attention and dedication he devotes to his family’s personal injury claims.
Michael started the Brandner Law Firm with a desire to represent clients against goliath insurance companies and corporations.  The Firm is built upon the principles of helping people with personal attention and making insurance companies and corporations responsible for any damage or harms that their actions cause to either their own insured's or customers.  Also, Michael ensures that his clients that if the want to speak to him, he will make a point of calling you back or meeting with you.  Michael strongly believes that his clients should be treated with personal care during their hurricane or personal injury claims, at a time when people are most vulnerable to insurance companies’ delay tactics and games.

Michael is also a member of the Louisiana Association of Justice, Association of New Orleans Trial Lawyers, Louisiana State Bar Association, Desire NOLA, a non-profit organization with the goal of helping Louisiana small businesses, and the Alliance for Good Government.
