Scott's Biography

A founding partner of Perry Charnoff PLLC, Scott M. Perry believes that trial lawyers, along with the jury system, perform an integral function in our society by leveling the playing field between parties with differing economic resources. He also believes that attorney results should be measured by client satisfaction, not monetary outcome.

As an accomplished trial lawyer, Mr. Perry has been consistently nominated as a Washington, D.C., area “Super Lawyer” since age 35, an accolade awarded by his legal peers. His unique approach has led to numerous multi-million dollar verdicts and settlements on behalf of his clients in practice areas that include medical malpractice, catastrophic injury, business injury cases, and more.

Mr. Perry limits his practice to plaintiff catastrophic injury cases such as commercial vehicle collisions, wrongful death, product liability, and medical malpractice. By focusing his practice on a select number of catastrophic injury and wrongful death cases, Mr. Perry is able to give each client the individual attention they deserve. As a result, he frequently receives clients via referrals from other lawyers, judges, and members of the local community.

Mr. Perry began his legal career in 1997 by serving as a law clerk to the Honorable Henry F. Greene in the District of Columbia Superior Court. He later went on to join the highly-respected law firm of Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe, representing business clients in a variety of national class actions as well as product liability cases and mass tort litigation.

In 2005, Mr. Perry decided to focus his practice primarily on representing injured individuals, joining a highly respected plaintiff’s litigation firm and later becoming a partner there.

Mr. Perry enjoys representing people in atypical injury cases as well as those with unique visibility. For example, Mr. Perry has successfully handled a number of sports injury cases, which have involved athletic disciplines ranging from rowing to swimming to triathlons. In many of these cases, the results prompted nationwide regulatory changes that improved safety for sports participants.

In addition, Mr. Perry focuses on “whistleblower” cases where a person (often an employee) exposes a company (or companies) in the act of defrauding federal or state governments. Such cases often require the whistleblower to sue large corporations, which requires both extensive knowledge of the law and tenacious representation.

Mr. Perry is married to JoAnn Perry, a graduate of the MBA program at the University of Virginia, and the two live in Arlington, Virginia, with their son Ethan. Mr. Perry and his wife maintain active involvement in several local charities and community groups, and they spend much of their remaining free time with their large extended family.
