Michael J. Schneider is the owner of the Law Offices of Michael J. Schneider, P.C. located in Anchorage, Alaska. He graduated from McGeorge School of Law in 1975. He was admitted to the Alaska Bar in 1975. His practice is now limited to plaintiffs' personal injury, wrongful death, and insurance litigation. He enjoys Martindale-Hubbell's highest "AV" rating (legal ability very high to preeminent) and is listed in the publication The Best Lawyers in America. He is a charter member and past president of the Alaska Chapter of the American Board of Trial Advocates. He is a sustaining member of the American Association for Justice (formerly Association of Trial Lawyers of America/ATLA), a former AAJ state delegate, and was formerly one of Alaska's two representatives on the AAJ Board of Governors.
He is an active member of the Alaska Academy of Trial Lawyers (former president and board member). He is a steering committee member and twice chairman of the Alaska Action Trust, an organization opposing reductions in plaintiffs' rights and other negative changes in the civil justice system. He has spoken publicly, written, testified before the Alaska State Legislature, and lobbied extensively regarding the liability insurance crisis and the civil justice system. He was a member of the Alaska Bar Association's Legal Malpractice Insurance Committee. He is the former editor of the Alaska Bar Rag and a contributor on tort and insurance law topics. In 2002, he was presented with the Board of Governors' Professionalism Award by the Alaska Bar Association in recognition of exemplary conduct in his association with the public, his colleagues, and the legal community.
Michael Schneider is married to Jane Schneider, a staff member of his firm. Mike is an experienced outdoorsman, bush pilot, and bowhunter. His passion for these activities is exceeded only by his love for Jane and his interest in the law.
